Iconic Biba Report

Iconic Biba

The Iconic Biba Event held on  Saturday 14 January 2017, presented by The Friends of St Anne’s Kew, attracted over 60 people who enjoyed being taken down ‘The Biba Memory Lane’ by Lorraine Neale. Lorraine, who was privileged to have worked with Barbara Hulanicki OBE  in the innovative times and continues to work with her today,  gave the audience an insight into working with Barbara with personal memories and anecdotes.  In the Presentation the Audience were shown live video clips of Barbara and Biba both in the early days and currently as well as a very personal message from Barbara speaking directly to  the audience whom she thanked for shopping at Biba and referred to them as ‘The Biba Girls’!   Lorraine also created  an exhibition of original Biba clothes, books and memorabilia. Following the presentation the audience were then  able to socialise and discuss their memories  of Biba days over a sandwich and glass of wine.

As it was so popular, it’s likely that Lorraine’s presentation will be repeated to other groups in the Kew area – watch out for news on that in the future!
